Company Secretaries play a vital role for the good governance policy of the company, said Sridhar Patra, Chairman & Managing Director of National Aluminium Company Ltd., while speaking at a seminar on “Empowering the Empowered”, organised by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here on Friday.
A Company Secretary is a good communicator, CEO of the Company, knows much more about the organisational structure; and has to align with his corporate governance planning and must know the latest technology. He is also the best communicator to the stock exchange, stakeholders, regulators and an expert in planning, added Patra. The Company Secretary knows how to build the stakeholders’ confidence in an organisation, he further said.
Federation of Indian Export Organizations Odisha Chapter Head Kamal Kanta Sahoo, while talking on the Exim Policy & Start Up, elaborated about the opening of start-up, entrepreneurship and e-commerce.
Practicing Company Secretary Neha Somani of Kolkata spoke on NCLT and Arbitration at the conference.
Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) Member (Admn.) PK Biswal spoke about the “Role of Odisha Real Estate Sector” and “Role of Professionals in Real Estate Sectors”. He also said that ORERA is providing a lot of protection to the home buyers and for early redressal of the grievances of the home buyers.
ICSI’s EIRC Chairman Soumya Sujit Mishra, ICSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Chairman Bimal Prasad Pattanaik, Vice Chairperson Sasmita Panda and Managing Committee Member Nilakantha Samal also addressed during the seminar.
A large number of Company Secretaries, professionals, corporate executives of Odisha attended the seminar.
