With Odisha’s daily Covid-19 cases rising at an alarming rate, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has made it compulsory for incoming travellers to produce a negative RT-PCR report on their arrival, to prevent adverse impact of cross border movement.
According to an ECoR release, with effect from April 10, all Odisha-bound passengers boarding the train must carry an RT-PCR negative report, which should be obtained not more than 72 hours before the date of travel. In absence of a Covid-19 negative report, a passenger can also produce a final vaccination certificate (after two doses of vaccination), it added. Those without valid documents will have to undergo seven days’ mandatory home/institutional quarantine.
Meanwhile, the Sambalpur Division of ECoR has appealed people to avoid sharing old and fake videos showing huge crowd at various railway stations, and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
