In a significant stride towards ensuring safety excellence, Jindal Steel & Power (JSP)’s Utkal-C Coal Block successfully hoisted its 1st Annual Mines Safety Fortnight for the year 2023-24 at Raijharan in the Angul district. The event highlighted JSP’s unwavering commitment to fostering a secure and sustainable mining environment.
Distinguished guests, including Bhubaneswar Region-I DMS Krishnendu Madal, and DDMS T Hriprasad, accompanied by a team of inspection officials under the leadership of DK Pradhan, graced the occasion.
The event kicked off with an inspection of the coal mine area and the official inauguration of stalls, showcasing JSP’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and safety measures at Utkal-C Coal Block.
Officials from Utkal-C Coal Block, led by Head-Raw Material Ashish Pandey, and VP of Coal Mine Neeraj Kalla, along with their teams actively engaged in the proceedings. They provided insights into the comprehensive safety protocols implemented at the coal block, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and the well-being of miners.
Krishnendu Mandal, in his address to the gathering, lauded the commendable efforts of the coal block officials in ensuring safety. He applauded their dedication to establishing a “Zero Harm Zone” and extended his best wishes for continued success in this endeavor.
The celebration featured various elements aimed at promoting safety awareness, including a safety declaration, a welcoming song performed by students from DAV Savitri Jindal School, an introductory address, a presentation on safety statistics, a skit performed by DAV Savitri Jindal School students, and a poster competition with prize distribution. Notable achievements in safety practices were acknowledged with the presentation of awards such as the “Safe Worker” and “Trade Test Best Stall.” The event concluded with the National Anthem and a vote of thanks.
