Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, is set to unveil two cutting-edge digital modules, the Maritime Single Window (MSW) and the Mercantile Maritime Department (MMD), on the Sagar Setu (NLP-M) platform. The launch ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow, marks a significant leap towards a modern and streamlined maritime landscape in India.
The Maritime Single Window (MSW) module on the Sagar Setu (NLP-M) platform serves as a digital hub for the electronic submission, processing, and exchange of maritime-related information and documents among government authorities, port operators, and stakeholders involved in international maritime trade. Notably, this module underwent successful testing with officials from the Directorate General of Shipping, along with Shipping Agents, Trade Associations, and Port Officials from all Major Ports.
Similarly, the Mercantile Maritime Department (MMD) module on Sagar Setu (NLP-M) is a digital platform providing real-time vessel detention and release status information. This module will enhance the Mercantile Maritime Department’s capabilities in sharing vessel survey information on the Sagar Setu platform.
These modules represent integral components of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways’ broader digital initiatives aimed at propelling the maritime sector into a digitally-driven future.
