NTPC and IOCL ink pact for disaster response at Bongaigaon plants in Assam

In a significant step towards enhancing emergency readiness and response capabilities, NTPC Bongaigaon and IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery formalized a Mutual Aid Agreement (MAA) for Emergency Response Plan (ERP) on February 6, 2024, at NTPC Bongaigaon. This agreement aims to foster collaboration and resource sharing between the two organizations to effectively address industrial emergencies and natural calamities.

Signed by Nayan Kumar Barua, ED & Refinery Head of IOCL – Bongaigaon Refinery, and KC Muraleedharan, CGM (O&M) of NTPC Bongaigaon, the agreement signifies a commitment to minimizing the impact of disasters through coordinated responses. Karunakar Das, Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon, expressed confidence in the agreement, highlighting its role in enhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities in the region. He emphasized the partnership’s dedication to ensuring the safety of employees, stakeholders, and the surrounding areas.

NTPC Bongaigaon and IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery commit to providing personnel, equipment, facilities, and services to assist each other during emergencies under the terms of the agreement. They will also sensitize members and the public on disaster threats and mitigation strategies, promoting loss control procedures related to hazards associated with member industries. Designated staging areas and authorized representatives responsible for activating mutual aid assistance are specified in the agreement, which is effective for five years with provisions for renewal and periodic review to ensure continued effectiveness.
