Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has joined hands with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) to provide students and aspiring professionals with essential skills for careers in e-commerce, retail, and warehousing. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two entities, aiming to train, upskill, and certify candidates for roles in these growing sectors.
The MoU exchange ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, MSDE Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari, and NSDC COO Ved Mani Tiwari.
Under the partnership, Flipkart’s ‘Project Bright Initiative’ will provide free online courses covering the fundamentals of e-commerce, soft skills, and customer service. These courses, supported by NSDC, will enhance learners’ employability and prepare them for the evolving demands of the industry. Flipkart also seeks NSDC’s assistance for accrediting and certifying these courses to ensure their recognition and value in the job market. The collaboration aims to raise awareness and outreach for these courses, with the ultimate objective of facilitating placements in the broader e-commerce and retail sectors.
In addition, the MoU underscores Flipkart’s commitment to upskilling candidates in the warehousing sector through the Flipkart Supply Chain Academy. The initiative will provide training and certification to participants, enhancing their competencies and prospects in the logistics industry.
Furthermore, Flipkart will participate as an employer in the NSDC Kaushal Mahotsav (Job Fairs) across various regions of the country, providing job seekers with opportunities and opening new avenues for their careers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ved Mani Tiwari emphasized the significance of the partnership in equipping individuals with industry-relevant skills. He highlighted the alliance’s aim to empower candidates for success in India’s dynamic e-commerce, retail, and logistics sectors.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, reiterated Flipkart’s commitment to supporting local businesses and contributing to India’s economic growth. He emphasized the collaboration’s role in providing tailored skills to individuals, thereby unlocking new opportunities and fostering career growth in the digital economy.
Flipkart’s initiatives span across various states, including Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, where thousands of youth have undergone training and received certifications. The platform has also provided real-life work exposure to selected students, facilitating their professional development and career advancement in collaboration with government bodies.
