The Eastern India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) recently organized a seminar titled “SETU – Bridging the Gap between Present & Future” in Kolkata, which received accolades for its unconventional theme and relevant topics catering to the profession.
The seminar, graced by Guest of Honour including CA & CS Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI and CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice-President of ICAI. CS Sandip Kumar Kejriwal and CS Rupanjana De, Council members of ICSI spoke on the professional areas and challenges. CS (Dr.) Mohit Shaw, Chairman, EIRC of the ICSI welcomed guests and introduced the theme. CS Soumya Sujit Mishra, Immediate Past Chairman, CS Santosh Kumar, Treasurer, and CS Satish Kumar, Member, EIRC of ICSI were also present during the inaugural session of the seminar through virtual mode. A highlight of the event was a special session conducted by the Cyber Department of Kolkata Police, focusing on the crucial topic of cyber security and threats in the modern business landscape.
Distinguished resource persons from the corporate world, including CA CS Ankit Agarwal of Add My Binn and Shark Tank India fame, CS Sanjay Jain of TT Ltd. and Alkesh Agarwal, Co-Founder and CEO of ‘Re-feel,’ emphasized the significance of compliance and the pivotal role of Company Secretaries in the business ecosystem.
Another notable session delved into the intricacies of Valuation, with CA Vikash Goel, CS Amit Choraria, and CMA Pranab Kr. Chakrabarty shedding light on its scope, opportunities, and challenges.
Dr. (h.c.), Past President of ICSI, led an insightful discussion on SME IPOs, addressing various minor and major nuances while also addressing queries raised by participants.
The session Chairpersons were CS Anjan Kr Roy, CS Sandeep Lakhotia, CS Anuj Saraswat and CS Abhijit Dan. The moderators for the event were CS Trina Nandi, CS Arpan Sengupta and CS Aishwarya Sharma moderated the event, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience for the approximately 200 attendees, comprising members, corporate executives, and professionals.
