The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) commenced the observance of the 53rd National Safety Day and Week with the theme “Focus on Safety Leadership for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Excellence.” PPA Chairman PL Haranadh inaugurated the Safety Week Celebrations as the chief guest.
The event began with the flagging off of an awareness rally by Haranadh from the Administrative Building, which culminated at Gate No. 4 of PPA. Addressing the gathering, Haranadh emphasized PPA’s commitment to safety awareness, proper training, and the provision of personal protective equipment to employees.
Highlighting recent initiatives, Haranadh mentioned PPA’s focus on constructing Road over-bridges to mitigate risks associated with train and truck movements. Notably, the construction of the MCHP flyover has been completed, and work is underway for the 2nd Exit-cum-Flyover Bridge. Additionally, plans for two more flyovers and the widening of internal roads are in progress to enhance safety and alleviate truck congestion.
The event was coordinated by PPA Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, and CME (I/c) Capt. AC Sahoo, along with other Heads of Departments. Safety officer Janardan Nayak and Regional Manager of Chennai Radha Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd., A Ramesh also played key roles in organizing the event.
Throughout the week, a series of awareness activities will be conducted, including safety essay, debate, and poster competitions among employees and port users, seminars, dock safety training programmes, and CPR Workshop activities, emphasizing the importance of safety leadership for ESG excellence.
