JSW Steel Ltd’s Odisha Mines Division received numerous prestigious awards across various categories at the 25th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week 2023-24. This event, organized under the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) in Bhubaneswar, recognized outstanding achievements in the mining industry.
JSW’s four mines were honoured with a total of five awards for their exceptional performance in different areas of mining.
Jajang Mines received the first prize for their commendable efforts in afforestation, highlighting their commitment to environmental conservation. Narayanposhi Mines was awarded the first prize for their effective waste dump management practices. Similarly, Nuagaon Mines earned the second prize for their systematic and scientific development, as well as the third prize for their diligent environmental monitoring. Additionally, Gonua Mines secured the second prize for their exemplary sustainable development initiatives.
Furthermore, Nikhil Behuria, the Mines Manager of Gonua Iron Ore Mines, was honoured with the Paryavaran Bandhu Award for his remarkable contributions to environmental protection.
The final day function and award ceremony were presided over by Ram Shanker Sharma, the Head of Operations for the Odisha Mining division.
