Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) marked the birthday of its esteemed Chairman, Shri Naveen Jindal, on March 9 by dedicating the day to fitness and wellness across its business locations. Through a range of engaging activities and events, JSP encouraged employees and local communities to prioritize health and fitness, embodying the spirit of holistic well-being.
In a vibrant display of commitment to health and wellness, JSP orchestrated a series of initiatives at its plant and mines locations in Angul, Barbil, Kasia, and Tensa. The celebrations commenced with a Mini Marathon named ‘Pellet Plant Stride’ at the Barbil pellet plant, drawing over 300 enthusiastic participants including employees and their families. Simultaneously, JSP Foundation, the social arm of the company, extended its outreach by distributing spectacles to 87 individuals in peripheral villages near Kasia Mines, and providing nourishing meals to residents of Kudurbeda hamlet in Kasia (Kha) village.
Emphasizing the importance of physical activity among youth, more than 200 students in Deojhar were sensitized on the significance of exercise and sports for fitness. Additionally, in a bid to promote quality education, two classrooms were inaugurated at the Primary School in Gobardhanpur.
In Angul, JSP organized mini-marathons, yoga camps, and health camps in villages and schools within the vicinity, engaging local communities in activities aimed at fostering a culture of fitness and well-being.
The occasion was further commemorated with compassion and joy as JSP extended support to Divyang children in Jindal Asha, underprivileged residents in Adruta Children Home, and Utkal Balashram.
As part of its welfare initiatives, JSP Foundation extended aid to the Angul Jail by providing essential amenities such as water coolers, fans, and indoor play materials, enhancing the living conditions of the inmates.
At its Bhubaneswar office, JSP collaborated with Kalinga Hospital to organize a yoga training session and a blood donation camp, underscoring the company’s commitment to community well-being. Sweets were distributed among more than 200 children with special needs, spreading joy and warmth on this celebratory occasion.
In a heartfelt address to the employees, JSP President Prashant Hota lauded Chairman Naveen Jindal’s remarkable contributions to the nation, highlighting his pioneering efforts in industry-led inclusive prosperity, advancements in steel-making technologies, and advocacy for clean and green energy.
“Mr Naveen Jindal’s contribution to the country will be ever cherished by the Gen Next. His contribution to industry-led inclusive prosperity in three Eastern States, his leadership in introducing coal gasification in steel-making, introduction of clean and green energy is benchmarks for other metal industries,” said Hota, while adding that Jindal’s role as a parliamentarian in moving the private bill on food security and his lead in making the parliament smoking free are path breaking initiatives.
Hota also commended the JSP Chairman’s achievements as a distinguished sportsman, noting his outstanding records in polo and shooting. Furthermore, he highlighted Jindal’s decade-long legal endeavor to uphold the dignity of the Indian national flag, cementing his legacy as a revered national figure.
