In a commendable initiative coinciding with the birthday of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) Chairman Naveen Jindal, the JSP Foundation orchestrated a significant event — a free eye check-up camp coupled with the distribution of spectacles.
Hosted at the Occupational Health Centre of the Kasia Iron and Dolomite Mines, the event’s primary objective was to extend essential eye care services to truck drivers, a pivotal workforce in the transportation of iron and other ores. Often exposed to prolonged hours of work amid environmental pollutants, these drivers are susceptible to eye-related ailments, which can, unfortunately, lead to tragic accidents causing loss of lives and property.
A total of 244 truck drivers benefited from the services rendered at the free camp. Among them, 87 individuals were identified with eye-related issues during the comprehensive testing conducted onsite and were consequently furnished with free spectacles.
The distribution ceremony witnessed the presence of Sunil Kumar Dutta, President of the Truck Owners Association, Bhadrasahi and Gauli, alongside key figures such as Raghuraj Raghuvanshi, Kasia Unit In-charge, and Asish Ranjan Mohanty, Head HR & ES, among other officials from JSP and the JSP Foundation.
This endeavour not only underscores the JSP Foundation’s commitment to corporate social responsibility but also highlights their dedication to safeguarding the welfare of the community.
By addressing the healthcare needs of truck drivers, the Foundation has not only contributed to enhancing their quality of life but has also taken proactive steps towards ensuring road safety — a cause that resonates with societal well-being and progress.
