Jharsuguda, May 02, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The Jharsuguda operations of Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has been recognized as the highest revenue generator for Indian Railways in the Sambalpur Division.
The accolade was bestowed upon the company during a ceremony held at its Jharsuguda plant, where Tushar Kant Pandey, Divisional Railways Manager of Sambalpur Division, along with Tanmay Mukhopadhyay, Senior Divisional Operating Manager, and SS Nayak, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, commended Vedanta Aluminium for its exceptional contribution.
The event showcased Vedanta’s unwavering commitment to safety and efficiency in logistics management through a safety rally and engaging activities such as quizzes and drawing competitions centered on the illustrious history of Indian Railways.

Tushar Kant Pandey, Divisional Railways Manager of Sambalpur Division, praised Vedanta Aluminium for its pioneering efforts in railway logistics and safety standards, emphasizing the company’s pivotal role as the leading revenue contributor in the division.
Operating on an extensive scale in Jharsuguda, Vedanta Aluminium boasts the world’s largest aluminium smelter with an annual capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Leveraging its strategic assets in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, Vedanta Aluminium maintains seamless global operations while championing the principles of a circular economy within the industry.
Furthermore, Vedanta Aluminium has set a new benchmark by supplying the highest number of fly ash rakes to the cement and infrastructure sector, totaling 421, a remarkable feat within Indian Railways.
