Bhubaneswar, May 4, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The Eastern Region of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Saturday hosted its convocation ceremony at Rabindra Mandap here, celebrating the achievements of new members and recognizing excellence in the Eastern Region.
Amidst a palpable atmosphere of accomplishment, membership certificates were bestowed upon individuals who successfully attained the prestigious status of Company Secretaries. Notably, accolades were also extended to those who completed specialized PMQ courses subsequent to their CS membership. The event further honored outstanding students who had previously excelled in professional courses across all subjects in Eastern India, with Krishna Kumari Pal of Talcher clinching the highest award, a testament to her remarkable dedication and prowess.
Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest was Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of Sambalpur IIM, who underscored the multifaceted dimensions of success, emphasizing the importance of intelligence quotient, emotional quotient, spiritual quotient, and philosophical quotient in both personal and professional spheres. In his address, he accentuated the pivotal role that company secretaries play in upholding corporate governance, especially amidst India’s rapid economic growth trajectory.
A significant highlight of the event was the signing of an Academic Collaboration Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICSI and IIM, Sambalpur, heralding a new era of synergy and knowledge exchange between two esteemed institutions.
ICSI President CS Balasubramaniam Narasimhan rallied the members towards contributing to India’s economic ascendancy, envisioning a future where India’s economy reigns supreme. With a projected demand for 1.5 lakh Company Secretaries in this epoch, he urged members to seize the opportunity and be catalysts for transformative change.
ICSI Vice President CS Dhananjay Shukla eloquently illustrated the pivotal role of company secretaries in maintaining corporate integrity, drawing parallels from the epic Mahabharata, and emphasizing the importance of expertise and ethical conduct.
Council Member CS Rupjanana De reiterated the imperative of a culture of compliance, underscoring its significance in fostering trust and sustainability in the corporate realm.
