AM/NS India champions skill development with “Daksh” initiative in Kendrapara

KENDRAPARA, MAY 28, 2024 (TBB BUREAU) : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a leading steel manufacturer, continues to champion skill development through its “Daksh” initiative, aimed at uplifting local communities. In collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation, the company established a Digital Skill Centre in Kendrapara to impart essential skill development training to underprivileged youth in the region.

In a significant milestone for the initiative, the inaugural batch of 100 local youths successfully completed placement-linked IT/ITES training. Notably, 85 of these individuals have already secured job offers at reputable companies such as Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Flipkart, and Tattva Technology, Bhubaneswar, serving as Domestic Data Entry Operators and Domestic IT Help Desk professionals. This achievement highlights the creation of over 100 job opportunities for the candidates.

The selection process for the training program involved active participation from 11 nearby villages in the Mahakalpada Block, ensuring representation and inclusivity within the community. Alongside technical training, participants underwent comprehensive grooming in non-technical areas, including communication skills, personality development, and interview techniques. Upon completion, the trainees received professional certifications and lucrative job placements.

Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head of CSR at AM/NS India, expressed his delight at the success of the initiative, particularly noting the significant participation of local girls, who accounted for 55 percent of the first batch. He emphasized the company’s commitment to community development and expressed optimism for increased participation in future batches.

AM/NS India’s dedication to skill development extends beyond Kendrapara, with eight digital skill centres operational in other locations. To date, these centres have trained over 1,500 educated and unemployed youths, with 74 percent securing employment opportunities in renowned companies.
