BHUBANESWAR, MAY 28, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Parmeshwar Funkwal, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and a seasoned officer from the 1988 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), has assumed the role of General Manager for the East Coast Railway (ECoR). With an impressive career spanning decades, Funkwal has held key positions including DRM-Rajkot, ADRM-Ahmedabad, Chairman-RRB, and Executive Director-RDSO. His tenure as Principal Chief Engineer at Western Railway in Mumbai underscored his capability in leading critical infrastructure projects.
Funkwal’s contributions extend beyond traditional railway engineering. He has spearheaded the introduction of innovative technologies in track and bridge construction, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and speed. His expertise also covers Human Resources management, Research & Designs, and General Administration.
A notable figure in the academic world, Funkwal has authored research papers on Track, Bridge, and Environmental Engineering, which have been published in prestigious international journals. He has also presented at esteemed conferences of the International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA) in Beijing, Calgary, and New Delhi, sharing his global insights on railway engineering.
