World Environment Day: FACOR paves the way to a greener future

BHADRAK, JUNE 5, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): On World Environment Day, Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd. (FACOR) reaffirmed its dedication to promoting sustainable ecosystems through a series of environmental conservation initiatives. FACOR aims to foster an ecologically promising future within and around its operational areas.

In line with this vision, FACOR has launched its first-ever eco-friendly enterprise mobility initiative in collaboration with the Treewards Foundation. Under this initiative, employees contribute to a greener future by planting a tree for every significant task completed on the internal platform. This initiative, inaugurated by FACOR CEO Pankaj Sharma and other senior leadership members, integrates environmental awareness into the company’s daily operations and marks a significant step towards sustainability.

To further emphasize its commitment to transforming the planet, FACOR organized various eco-friendly activities, including cleanliness drives, plantation campaigns, environment-related quizzes, drawing competitions, and slogan contests.

The Environment Day celebrations began with a cleanliness drive at the FACOR Township, focusing on removing plastic waste to make the Earth greener and cleaner. This was followed by a plantation campaign where employees planted saplings in and around the company’s operational areas, promoting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and enhancing environmental care. FACOR is also committed to planting 10,000 saplings around neighbouring villages to enrich local flora.

Reiterating FACOR’s commitment to a sustainable future, CEO Pankaj Sharma stated, “In line with Vedanta’s goal of the 1 trillion trees movement, I strongly motivate everyone to restore the greenery around us. FACOR is determined to plant 15,000 saplings during the 2024 monsoon, marking another step towards a brighter future.”

Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited (FACOR), one of the oldest and most reputed producers of Charge Chrome, an essential ingredient for producing steel and stainless steel, was established in 1983 and became part of the Vedanta Group in September 2020.
