Rajgangpur/Cuttack, June 6, 2024 (TBB Bureau): On the occasion of World Environment Day, Dalmia Bharat Ltd, India’s premier cement company, spearheaded a series of impactful events across Odisha, underscoring its steadfast dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
In Rajgangpur, the celebration witnessed a myriad of activities aimed at bolstering the local agricultural community and augmenting the region’s green cover. As part of Project Annadaata, an initiative focused on supporting farmers, Dalmia Cement distributed seeds to approximately 150 farmers, with plans to extend the assistance to another 850 farmers imminently. Recognizing the pivotal role of high-quality seeds in enhancing agricultural yield and farmer income, the distribution also included 500 bamboo saplings. Esteemed guests, including Guru Charan Mandal, Range Officer of the Forest Department Rajgangpur; Chetan Shrivastava, Executive Director – DCBL; Om Prakash Khelkar, Mines Head -Lanjiberna Mines; Dr. Niladri Bhushan Parhi, Head of HR & Corporate Social Relations; and Ashok Kumar Mishra, Environment Head, graced the event, emphasizing the collaborative efforts towards sustainable development.
Additionally, a green shed nursery was inaugurated under the Farm Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF), a NABARD project, furthering the commitment to agricultural sustainability. A massive plantation drive saw the planting of 1000 saplings and trees across various locations, including Lanjiberna, Kukuda Village, R&R Colony, and the power plant area, amplifying the green footprint of the region.
In a significant stride towards renewable energy utilization, Dalmia Bharat Ltd converted a car parking shed into a solar energy source capable of generating 21.8KW power, earmarked for street lighting, under the “Harnessing the Power of Sun” initiative.

Meanwhile, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited Rajgangpur engaged in a diverse range of activities to raise awareness on environmental conservation, including a drawing competition, online quiz, and photography contest, among others. A Cyclathon held prior to World Environment Day aimed at promoting land restoration and combating desertification, embodying the spirit of environmental activism.
In Cuttack, at the Kapilas Cement Works, the World Environment Day celebration centered on the theme of “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” Village women from Garudagaon actively participated in the event, symbolizing grassroots involvement in environmental initiatives. The occasion also witnessed the planting of 50 saplings at the DIKSHa Skill Training Center, Biswali, underscoring the holistic approach towards sustainable development.
