NTPC Bongaigaon poised to become a model station: RED Sudip Nag

Bongaigaon, June 24, 2024 (TBB Bureau):  In a significant move to underscore the importance of inclusive development, NTPC Regional Executive Director (ER-I and II), Sudip Nag, recently undertook a comprehensive two-day visit to NTPC Bongaigaon. Accompanied by NTPC Bongaigaon Head of Project, Akhilesh Singh, and senior officials, Nag emphasized the station’s potential to become a model facility within the NTPC network.

During his visit, Nag conducted thorough inspections of key plant areas, including the Coal Handling Plant (CHP) and the wagon tippler area. His detailed review included critical operational aspects and an in-depth visit to the Central Control Room (CCR) for Units I, II, and III. He also inspected the under-construction Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) unit. Interacting with engineers in the control room, Nag expressed satisfaction with the operational parameters being maintained, encouraging continuous improvement and prioritizing safety. “NTPC Bongaigaon has all the potential to become the model station of NTPC and all must work towards it with team spirit,” he said.

A review meeting with all Heads of Departments (HODs) saw Nag congratulating NTPC Bongaigaon for setting new benchmarks in power generation and safety practices. He commended the team’s exemplary work and assured full support from the regional office in all operational and maintenance areas. He also praised the leadership of Akhilesh Singh, acknowledging the significant progress under his guidance.

Nag’s visit included engaging meetings with union representatives, associations, and Engineering Trainees (ETs). He sought their positive support in enhancing various operational and human resource functions. Further, he visited the Sericulture Unit of Bodoland Silk Park, where he laid the foundation stone of a new dormitory building.

To celebrate the occasion, a cultural program featuring traditional dance forms of the North East was organized in Nag’s honour. During the event, he released two films focusing on biodiversity and cleanliness (Swachhata). Addressing the employees, Shri Nag lauded NTPC Bongaigaon for ranking among the top ten stations in the Safety Evaluation Matrix and commended the station’s vibrant cultural ethos.

In a gesture promoting environmental conservation, Sudip Nag and Akhilesh Singh planted saplings. The occasion was also graced by GM (O&M) Induri S Reddy, GM (Operation) Asutosh Biswas and GM (FGD) Sanjay Pande, along with HODs and departmental heads.
