MCL sets new record with over 50 million tonnes of coal dispatch

Sambalpur, June 27, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 50 million tonnes (MT) of coal dispatch for the fiscal year 2024-25. This achievement came seven days ahead of the previous record, setting a new benchmark in operational excellence for the company.

This accomplishment reflects a robust 7.7 per cent growth in overall dispatch compared to the same period last fiscal year. The milestone of 50 million tonnes in coal dispatch was reached on Wednesday, emphasizing MCL’s commitment to efficiently fuelling the nation’s energy needs.

Notably, dispatches to the power sector increased by 7.5 per cent, underscoring MCL’s crucial role in supporting India’s power generation infrastructure. Additionally, the company has achieved an impressive 15 per cent growth in environmentally-friendly coal dispatch through railways, aligning with its dedication to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Expressing his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the MCL team, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday A Kaole stated, “Surpassing 50 million tonnes of coal dispatch in record time is a testament to the relentless efforts and commitment of our team. This milestone not only underscores our operational excellence but also strengthens our resolve to significantly contribute to the country’s energy security.”
