BHUBANESWAR, JULY 18, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a remarkable display of dedication and service, the JSP Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), has once again upheld its tradition of catering to devotees during the revered Rath Yatra in Puri. From July 6 to July 17, the Foundation provided more than 14.26 lakh freshly cooked traditional Odia meals to devotees gathered for the auspicious occasion.
The Foundation’s well-equipped kitchen and food stall near Gundicha Temple at Puri Bus Stand served as a hub of activity, ensuring that devotees received nutritious meals in a timely manner. Over 100 volunteers and employees of JSP worked tirelessly to maintain high standards of hygiene and efficiency in meal distribution. Additionally, a separate kitchen-cum-food stall at the Samanga parking site catered to the needs of pilgrims.
Recognizing the importance of hydration, the JSP Foundation deployed two specialized mobile drinking water vehicles, dispensing over 6,000 litres of chilled drinking water daily. More than 10,000 Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets were distributed to ensure devotees’ well-being during the festivities.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by frontline police personnel, the Foundation provided 500 raincoats to shield them from inclement weather while they diligently carried out their duties during the grand festival.
Furthermore, the Foundation contributed significantly to sanitation efforts by providing 70 Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) toilets in collaboration with the Puri Municipality, enhancing the convenience of pilgrims and visitors alike.
Chairperson of JSP Foundation, Shallu Jindal, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve devotees on this sacred occasion, emphasizing Rath Yatra’s significance as a symbol of spirituality, devotion, and unity. “Rath Yatra is a mark of spirituality, devotion, and unity. We are grateful to the Lord of the Universe for the opportunity to serve his devotees in this sacred festival by providing food, drinking water, ORS, and others,” said Jindal. She extended her thanks to the district administration and local volunteers for their invaluable support in facilitating these essential services.
The initiative has garnered widespread acclaim from pilgrims, visitors, and local authorities, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to enriching the Rath Yatra experience through comprehensive support and thoughtful service.
The JSP Foundation’s efforts stand as a testament to corporate social responsibility and community engagement, setting a benchmark in philanthropic initiatives during religious festivals.
