Bhubaneswar, July 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant achievement that underscores its dominance in the digital service sector, Reliance Jio has emerged as the top choice for mobile connectivity in Odisha. According to the latest telecom subscriber data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added a remarkable 1.85 lakh new mobile subscribers in May 2024. This notable growth contrasts sharply with the overall industry trend, where other service providers experienced a decline in subscribers during the same period.
As of May 31, 2024, the total number of mobile subscribers on the Jio network in Odisha has soared to approximately 1.55 crore. This increase contributed to a statewide rise in the overall mobile subscriber base, which grew by 1,54,141 in May, bringing the total to 3.38 crore.
On a national scale, Jio continued its upward trajectory by adding over 21.95 lakh subscribers in May, pushing its total subscriber count to an impressive 47.46 crore. This achievement further cements Jio’s status as the leading digital service provider in India.
Jio’s dominance in Odisha is reflected in its impressive 45.7 per cent subscriber market share and its substantial 52 per cent revenue market share within the state. The surge in Jio subscribers can be attributed to its extensive 4G and 5G network coverage, which has been aggressively expanded into previously underserved areas.
Jio has also made significant strides with its JioAirFiber service, which has become a transformative force in the region. Offering an extensive selection of over 800 digital TV channels, more than 15 OTT applications, smart home services, and high-speed broadband, JioAirFiber has quickly become the go-to option for premium home entertainment and connectivity. By addressing last-mile connectivity challenges, JioAirFiber has reached countless homes and small businesses that previously lacked access to reliable digital services. Its widespread availability across both small towns and rural villages in Odisha has solidified its position as a crucial digital lifeline and a leader in high-speed broadband services.
