Bhubaneswar, July 20, 2024 (TBB Bureau): TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, is reinforcing its commitment to customer safety and security amidst a surge in fraudulent activities targeting its customers. Recently, many customers have reported receiving unauthorized messages on their mobile phones, falsely threatening disconnection of their electricity services due to non-payment and urging them to contact random mobile numbers.
These deceptive messages are being disseminated by unauthorized individuals using unapproved mobile numbers and IDs. TPCODL strongly advises its customers to exercise caution and not to engage with these messages. Customers are urged not to click on any links or respond to SMS or WhatsApp messages from unknown personal numbers that relate to bill payments and service activations. Additionally, it is important to refrain from calling the numbers provided in these suspicious messages or downloading unfamiliar apps or software that claim to facilitate electricity bill payments.
TPCODL emphasizes that it never sends disconnection notices from personal numbers. Official communications from TPCODL are always sent through authorized IDs: TPCODI (SMS), MOBDYT (SMS), and TPCODL (on WhatsApp). The company urges customers to report any concerns or instances of fraud to their 24×7 Toll-Free Call Center at 1912/1800-345-7122.
In an effort to combat these fraudulent activities, TPCODL is actively working to raise awareness among its customers.
TPCODL CEO Arvind Singh addressed the issue, stating, “Customers’ safety and security are our top priorities. We urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Together, we can fight these fraudulent activities and ensure a safe and secure experience for all our customers.”
