CII MSME Vendor Connect Series set to unleash Odisha’s MSME potential: Vedanta CEO Sunil Gupta

JHARSUGUDA, JULY 21, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Emphasizing Odisha’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and strong infrastructure that support a vibrant startup ecosystem, Sunil Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Vedanta Limited and Vice Chairman of the CII Odisha State Council, highlighted that the CII MSME Vendor Connect Series will harness the full potential of MSMEs in the region.

“Odisha offers significant growth opportunities across sectors such as metals, agro-processing, textiles, chemicals, tourism, as well as emerging industries like renewable energy, electric vehicles, IT, and electronics. With its strategic location and supportive ecosystem, including advanced policies, seed funding, and mentorship, Odisha is poised for extensive industrial growth,” Gupta stated during the CII MSME Vendor Connect Series 2024 on Saturday.

The one-day conference, themed “Expanding Business Horizons,” provided MSMEs with valuable networking opportunities and a platform to present their products to procurement teams through one-on-one B2B interactive sessions.

CII Odisha State Council Chairman Pradipta Mohanty remarked, “CII has been instrumental in fostering an environment conducive to industry growth in the state, collaborating closely with both industry and government through advisory and consultative processes. The MSME sector remains the backbone of our economy, contributing significantly to GDP, industrial output, and exports.”

“The CII MSME Vendor Connect Series aims to connect MSMEs with large-scale industries and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), bolstering the MSME ecosystem in the state,” Mohanty added.

The event featured industry leaders such as Girish Naik, Head of Commercial at JSW BPSL Works; Sameer Nayak, President of HIL Aditya Alumina; and Prabhu Prasad Choudhury, Additional Director at the Department of Industries, Government of Odisha.

The conclave attracted industry leaders, decision-makers, experts, and MSME partners from across the state to explore future business opportunities and enhance the MSME ecosystem. The event included insightful presentations on expanding MSME business prospects and engaging B2B sessions with major companies including Vedanta, Hindalco, Rourkela Steel Plant, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, JSW, Shyam Metallics, Tata Power, TRL Krosaki, and Dalmia Cement.
