Jindal Steel & Power pays tribute to OP Jindal on his 94th birth anniversary

ANGUL, AUGUST 7, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) commemorated the 94th birth anniversary of its founder, Om Prakash Jindal (Bauji), with deep reverence at its Angul plant and surrounding areas. The commemoration featured a blood donation camp, where employees and associates contributed 183 units of blood.

Angul Location Head and Executive Director In-Charge, Pankaj Malhan, and Executive Director, Damodar Mittal, led the day’s events, paying floral tributes to OP Jindal. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, employees with their families, and local villagers, all of whom paid heartfelt respects to the industrialist known for pioneering the Swadeshi movement in steelmaking.

In his address, Pankaj Malhan highlighted the enduring legacy of OP Jindal and his vision for both the company and the community.

Damodar Mittal reflected on personal experiences with Bauji, underscoring OP Jindal’s commitment to Swadeshi technology and materials in steel production. “Our current achievements are a testament to Bauji’s foresight and dedication,” Mittal remarked.

Senior JSP officials, including Subas Jain, SK Sharma, and Atul Dubey, also paid homage, sharing inspiring anecdotes about Bauji’s life and contributions.

The JSP Foundation, in collaboration with the District Red Cross Blood Bank, organized a blood donation camp at Jindal Nagar. Several employees and associates voluntarily participated, donating a total of 183 units of blood.

Additionally, the district-level OP Jindal Cup Football Tournament was inaugurated at the PTC Football Ground in Angul. The event was graced by dignitaries such as Pratap Pritimay, ADM (General), Angul; Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director JSP, Angul; Dr. Antyarami Mishra, District Family Welfare Officer; and Akshay Kumar Sith, District Sports Officer. Twelve teams from various districts of Odisha are competing in the tournament, with the final scheduled for August 18.

In its social service initiatives, the JSP Foundation provided dry rations to several senior citizen homes in the district.

Students and staff from OP Jindal School and DAV-Savitri Jindal School participated in mass prayers and a ‘havan’.

The evening featured a Bhajan Sandhya performed by eminent singer Kavita Paudwal and her team, with another Bhajan Sandhya held at Shramik Vihar.

Meanwhile, The 94th birth anniversary of OP Jindal  was marked by a series of spiritual, cultural, and sporting events at Barbil Pellet Plant, Tensa, and Kasia Iron Mines.

At the Barbil Pellet Plant, floral tributes were paid to OP Jindal, accompanied by puja and havan ceremonies at the township temple. The event was attended by Unit Head Purushotham MD, Head HR & ES Asish Ranjan Mohanty, and other senior executives along with their families.

Kasia Iron Mine also hosted puja and havan ceremonies, attended by Unit Head Pramod Kumar Patra, Asish Ranjan Mohanty, and other employees and their families.

At the Tensa unit, Unit Head Kamalakanta Nanda, employees, and their families participated in ceremonies at the township temple. Additionally, the CSR team at Tensa Mine organized the OP Jindal Memorial Football Tournament.

On social media platform X, JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal paid tribute, stating, “On the birth anniversary of my dear Bauji, Shri Om Prakash Jindal, we remember him as a visionary who transformed dreams into reality. His unwavering resolve in advancing our country’s steel manufacturing sector earned him the title of the ‘Man of Steel.’ His boundless love for our nation and its people mirrored his inspiring spirit.”

In conjunction with the celebrations, the JSP Foundation conducted various community sports and welfare activities involving villagers and schoolchildren. Notable attendees included Padma Shri Tulasi Munda, Purushotham MD, Ashish Ranjan Mohanty, and CSR Head Vargil Lakra. A cold drinking water van was inaugurated to serve peripheral villages at the Barbil Pellet Plant. The OP Jindal Promotional Football Tournament was held to showcase young village talent, and extracurricular competitions were conducted at local government schools. Additionally, Jindal School in Barbil celebrated its Foundation Day with a grand event featuring captivating cultural performances by its students.
