Reliance Jio celebrates 8th anniversary with exciting offers and future-focused vision

Mumbai, September 05, 2024 (TBB Bureau):  India’s telecom giant, Reliance Jio, is celebrating its 8th anniversary with a bang, unveiling a range of exclusive offers for its customers. Between September 5 and September 10, Jio users can avail themselves of benefits worth Rs 700 on select recharge plans, including the quarterly plans of Rs 899 and Rs 999, and the annual plan priced at Rs 3,599, as per details shared on Jio.com.

The offers include a complimentary subscription to 10 leading OTT platforms, a 10 GB data pack valid for 28 days worth Rs 175, and a three-month Gold membership of Zomato, among other perks. The Rs 899 and Rs 999 recharge plans provide daily data limits of 2GB, valid for 90 and 98 days respectively, while the Rs 3,599 plan offers a daily data quota of 2.5 GB for an entire year.

Reliance Jio’s journey began in September 2016, revolutionizing the telecom landscape in India with its disruptive entry marked by free voice calls and low-cost data plans, which quickly toppled established competitors. Within just 170 days, Jio had surpassed the 100-million customer mark in February 2017 — a record-breaking achievement driven by an impressive addition of seven new customers every second.

Staying true to its mission of making India “2G Mukt Bharat,” Jio has continued to democratize digital access across the country, making technology available to all Indians. This vision has been realized through innovative products like the JioPhone, an affordable smart device, the ultra-economical JioBharat 4G phone, Jio AirFibre, and comprehensive 5G services.

In its latest Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, outlined a futuristic roadmap for Jio, focusing heavily on artificial intelligence (AI) and deep technology. Among the bold initiatives announced were up to 100 GB of free cloud storage for Jio users, the launch of the AI service platform ‘Jio Brain,’ plans for AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, and the introduction of voice assistant ‘HelloJio’ integrated with Jio TV OS and ‘JioPhoneCall AI.’

Today, Jio stands strong with over 490 million subscribers, including the world’s largest 5G subscriber base outside China, comprising 130 million users. Carrying 8% of global data traffic, Jio is now the world’s largest mobile data network. In India, 60% of the country’s data traffic flows through Jio’s 4G and 5G networks. Since 2016, average data usage per user per month has surged more than 73 times, all while data costs have plummeted to remain the lowest globally — 30 times cheaper than when Jio first launched.
