Jharsuguda, September 07, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, conducted a comprehensive on-site emergency mock drill at its aluminium plant in Jharsuguda. The drill, focusing on transformer fires and subsequent rescue operations, was aimed at enhancing the emergency response capabilities of the plant’s workforce and ensuring preparedness in the event of an actual emergency.
The mock drill was meticulously overseen by Swarup Jena, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers – Sambalpur Division, and Archana Das, Assistant Director of Factories and Boilers, Jharsuguda. It was attended by several distinguished guests, including Sushant Mishra from the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), along with officers from mutual aid partner plants, such as JSW and TRL.

The exercise simulated a transformer fire and rescue operation, testing the site’s emergency response mechanisms under realistic conditions. The drill was executed with precision, receiving commendation from all participants for its effective emergency mobilization and robust communication protocols. Attendees provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the swift and coordinated response efforts of the team. Additionally, constructive suggestions were gathered for improving future drills, aimed at further enhancing preparedness and response strategies.
