NSE’s Success Shows India’s Path to a Viksit Bharat: Maharashtra Guv

Mumbai, September 9, 2024 (TBB Bureau): “NSE’s achievements are a testament to the country’s capability to develop world-class institutions and advance towards a Viksit Bharat, as envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” declared Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan during a ceremony at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Headquarters on Monday.

In a landmark event highlighting India’s financial evolution, Governor Radhakrishnan inaugurated the iconic NSE Bull statue and unveiled a commemorative Coffee Table Book titled The Journey of Empowering 1.4 Billion Dreams. The ceremony was attended by NSE MD & CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan and a host of distinguished guests, marking a celebratory moment for India’s financial sector.

The newly unveiled NSE Bull statue stands as a powerful symbol of strength, resilience, and economic vitality. Its imposing posture reflects the dynamic nature of India’s economic growth. Surrounding the bull are representations of diverse Indian citizens — from schoolchildren to village women and professionals — underscoring the inclusivity and unity that define India’s investment landscape.

The Coffee Table Book, The Journey of Empowering 1.4 Billion Dreams, provides a comprehensive look at NSE’s transformative impact on India’s capital markets over the past three decades. Since its inception in 1994, NSE has revolutionized the Indian stock market with its innovative automated trading system. The book highlights NSE’s pivotal role in driving India’s economic progress and its significant influence on the global financial stage.

Governor Radhakrishnan commended NSE for its monumental contributions to the nation’s financial sector. “I am delighted to inaugurate the NSE Bull statue and launch the Coffee Table Book,” he said. “The Bull represents financial fortitude, while the diverse figures surrounding it embody India’s collective efforts towards economic progress.”

NSE MD & CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan reflected on the institution’s transformative journey. “Today’s unveiling of the NSE Bull and the launch of our Coffee Table Book is a proud moment for us,” he stated. “The Bull signifies the synergy between capital markets and society, and the figures around it represent the broader community NSE serves. Over the past 30 years, NSE has made capital markets accessible across the country, empowering over 100 million unique investors. This book chronicles our evolution and our significant role in shaping India’s financial and technological landscape.”

With India now positioned as the world’s fifth-largest economy and NSE emerging as the largest stock exchange globally by activity, these milestones reflect the nation’s commitment to building a world-class financial ecosystem.
