NTPC Bongaigaon’s Samadhan Lean Quality Circle secures gold at 39th QCFI Chapter Convention

Bongaigaon, September 23, 2024 (TBB Bureau): NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to excellence continues to gain national recognition as the Samadhan Lean Quality Circle from the station secured the prestigious Gold Award at the 39th Chapter Convention on Quality Circle and its Allied Concepts. The event, organized by the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), was held in Pune on September 20-21, 2024, and attracted over 350 teams from across sectors in India. The convention aimed to foster the adoption and implementation of quality concepts in industries, services, education, healthcare, and rural development.

The Samadhan Lean Quality Circle is a cross-functional team from NTPC Bongaigaon, comprising members from diverse departments. The team was led by Ashish Daniel, supported by Bharti Daniel from the Medical Department, Sumanta Kumar Sahu, Jr. Engineer from IT, and Puran Pandit, Jr. Engineer from C&M. Their participation showcased NTPC Bongaigaon’s dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across all operational areas.

Their award-winning project, titled “Difficulty in Managing Medical Oxygen Cylinders at the Oxygen Plant During Cylinder Refilling,” tackled a significant operational challenge in handling and storing medical oxygen cylinders during the refilling process. The team’s innovative solution not only addressed safety and operational efficiency but also demonstrated the replicability of their approach across different industries and sectors.

The project’s focus was on streamlining the oxygen plant’s operations by enhancing the handling and management of medical oxygen cylinders, ensuring adherence to safety protocols while improving efficiency. This initiative reflected NTPC Bongaigaon’s dedication to quality improvement, showcasing how problem-solving and innovative thinking can lead to sustainable solutions.

The Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), which organized the convention, has been at the forefront of promoting quality education, training, and implementation in various sectors throughout India. The Pune convention provided a platform for teams to present innovative solutions, share best practices, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
