SAIL aims to stay ahead of the curve: Chairman Amarendu Prakash

New Delhi, September 26, 2024 (TBB Bureau): “SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited) will continue to engage with stakeholders, enhance asset utilization, and proactively stay ahead of the curve,” said Chairman Amarendu Prakash during the 52nd Annual General Meeting at the company’s headquarters on Thursday.

Prakash emphasized that SAIL is on track to excel in two key areas: maximizing capacity utilization and delivering exceptional value to customers.

He provided an overview of SAIL’s performance during FY 2023-24, highlighting that the company set new benchmarks by producing 20.5 million tonnes (MT) of Hot Metal, 19.24 MT of Crude Steel, and 18.44 MT of Saleable Steel—marking growth of 5.6%, 5.2%, and 6.9% respectively compared to the previous year. He noted that SAIL achieved its highest-ever sales turnover of Rs 1,04,545 crore during FY 2024.

“Reflecting on last year’s performance and looking ahead reinforces my belief that, as an organization, we can aspire to be ‘Number One’—the best in our industry,” said the SAIL Chairman.

He further acknowledged that the Indian Government’s ongoing efforts to transform the country’s social, digital, and physical infrastructure with a vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 have significantly boosted steel demand across all sectors.
