Rajgangpur, October 5, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a heartwarming celebration of resilience and achievement, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL), one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, honoured Abhishek Shukla, a cricketing sensation and an inspiring employee of Dalmia Cement, for his incredible journey and achievements.
Abhishek, who was born with an amputated left hand, has defied all odds to not only excel in cricket but also earn a place in the Odisha Cricket Team for Physically Challenged, under the Odisha Cricket Association.
A native of Rajgangpur, Abhishek’s story is one of sheer determination, skill, and passion for the game. His extraordinary performances have seen him represent India on the international stage, including in prestigious tournaments like the India vs Bangladesh Disabled Cricket Series, where he was named the Best Bowler. His talent and dedication have also been acknowledged by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), a body supported by the BCCI.
Abhishek is now set to represent Odisha in the upcoming National Cricket Tournament for the Physically Challenged, which will be held from October 15th to 26th, 2024, in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, DCBL’s Executive Director and Unit Head, Rajgangpur, Chetan Shrivastav, felicitated Abhishek with a cheque of Rs. 35,000. The event was graced by Dr. Niladri Bhushan Parhi, Deputy Executive Director and Unit HR Head of DCBL, along with the R&R team.
Speaking on the occasion, Shrivastav expressed his admiration, saying, “Abhishek’s journey of perseverance, passion, and triumph is truly inspiring. Abhishek’s cricket journey began 16 years ago in Rajgangpur, where he first played club matches before progressing to state-level competitions in Odisha. Over the years, his commitment and talent have taken him to national and international platforms, including representing India in the Physical Disability World Cricket Series. His remarkable achievements stand as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the sport and his ability to overcome physical challenges through sheer willpower.
