Mumbai, October 07, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Union Bank of India, one of the country’s premier public sector banks, celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm at the Y B Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
The event, held on Monday, underscored the bank’s commitment to promoting Hindi and local languages, with A. Manimekhalai, MD & CEO, presiding over the ceremony. Also in attendance were Sanjay Rudra, Executive Director, and Chandra Mohan Minocha, Chief General Manager (HR), who graced the occasion.
In her address, MD & CEO A. Manimekhalai highlighted the bank’s innovative products and services, emphasizing the role of Hindi and regional languages in enhancing customer service. She also announced the launch of the bank’s new CSR literacy campaign, ‘Union Sakshar’, aimed at fostering education and financial literacy across India.
To mark the occasion, several notable publications were unveiled, including a special comic book titled “Jhatpat Loan” and booklets in Telugu, Bangla, and Malayalam under the Vyavaharit Bhasha Gyan Series, all of which are designed to simplify banking concepts for customers. Additionally, reference materials prepared by various departments of the Central Office were released.
Awards were presented to employees for their exemplary contributions in implementing Hindi language in the workplace, and winners of nine Hindi competitions held during Hindi Fortnight were honored.
The celebration concluded on a light-hearted note with a Hasya Kavi Sammelan, featuring renowned poets Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Bawra, Dr. Rajnikant Mishra, Rakesh Tiwari, and Priyesh Sinha, who entertained the audience with their witty verses. The bank’s staff also participated in a cultural program, showcasing their talent with song and dance performances, adding vibrancy to the event.
