Sundargarh, October 15, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, played a key role in fostering the latent talents of rural students by supporting the “Suravi Children’s Festival,” a state-level platform aimed at nurturing young minds from local communities. The festival, held at Girisma Upper Primary School, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing 186 schools across 18 gram panchayats within the Hemgir block of Sundargarh district, a predominantly tribal area.
The Suravi Children’s Fest featured a wide variety of competitions and activities that allowed students to showcase their creativity, intellect, and skills. These included arts and crafts, singing, music, dance, debate, essay writing, elocution, and creative writing. The festival sought to provide a holistic platform for students to express themselves, explore their potential, and develop essential life skills.
The event was graced by Karuna S. Patel, Block Education Officer (BEO) of Hemgir Block, along with other distinguished guests, who emphasized the importance of overall development for schoolchildren. Speaking at the event, Patel said, “Suravi is an initiative that grooms future leaders. Vedanta’s support has provided rural students with a unique platform to showcase their talents, while also instilling in them the values of collaboration, perseverance, and teamwork.”
Kishore Ark, Additional Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Hemgir Block, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “With Vedanta’s support, the Suravi festival has become an important platform for rural students to shine. It fosters an environment where children are encouraged to dream big, aim high, and believe in their abilities. Such initiatives create a positive ripple-effect across our communities.”
