Ayumanthan 3.0: Experts advocate scientific approach to promote Ayurveda

New Delhi, October 26, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a bid to reinforce the scientific credibility of Ayurveda, AIMIL Healthcare & Research Centre organized Ayumanthan 3.0 at the Sri Sathya Sai Auditorium in New Delhi to mark the 9th National Ayurveda Day. Renowned Ayurveda practitioners and scholars gathered to discuss the ancient medicinal system’s modern applications and its potential for addressing complex health conditions.

Since 2016, National Ayurveda Day has been celebrated, underscoring Ayurveda’s pivotal role in health and wellness. This year’s Ayumanthan 3.0 echoed that theme, featuring knowledge-sharing sessions and discussions on Ayurvedic innovations and their societal impact. The event highlighted Ayurveda’s potential as both a therapeutic and preventive science, renewing trust and interest in this time-honoured approach to wellness.

AIMIL Healthcare & Research Centre Director, Dr. Nitika Kohli, emphasized the center’s dedication to advancing Ayurveda on scientific grounds. “We are promoting Ayurveda not just as a traditional practice but as a scientifically validated system that addresses some of the most challenging health conditions. For example, today we offer 100 per cent accurate Ayurvedic treatment for vitiligo,” she said. “Ayurveda is not just medicine; it’s a lifestyle — a complete approach to maintaining and restoring health,” Dr. Kohli added.

Highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit within the Ayurveda sector, AIMIL Pharmaceuticals Chairman, K. K. Sharma, lauded startups for broadening Ayurveda’s reach. “The emergence of startups in Ayurveda is propelling this ancient science to new heights, enhancing its accessibility and fostering innovation like never before,” Sharma said. “Supporting ventures rooted in Ayurvedic principles is crucial. These startups aren’t just business endeavors; they are essential pillars in expanding Ayurveda, making it more relevant for today’s health challenges,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, AIMIL Pharmaceuticals Executive Director, Dr. Sanchit Sharma, announced a collaborative research initiative with the National Institute of Ayurveda and the Ministry of AYUSH. “In collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH and the National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, we are undertaking cancer research with promising early results. We anticipate groundbreaking insights within the next two to three years,” he said, envisioning a future where Ayurveda could redefine cancer treatment.

The Ayumanthan 3.0 event offered a vibrant mix of entertainment, educational sessions, and cultural activities, focusing on Ayurveda’s role in empowering women, promoting holistic wellness, and enhancing societal health.

Dr. Raj Satpute, Director of Jyovis Hospital of Ayurveda & Aesthetic Centre in Mumbai, spoke on the significance of trust in Ayurveda. “Trust is essential,” he noted. “When doctors and patients fully embrace Ayurveda, the transformation is profound. I have personally witnessed remarkable outcomes, especially in dermatology, which has given hope to countless families.” Dr. Satpute, who has represented Ayurveda in over 55 countries, shared inspiring case studies with AYUSH students and practitioners, emphasizing Ayurveda’s capacity to provide both medical relief and emotional healing.

Adding a personal note, Dr. Vaishali Shukla recounted stories of patients with chronic or ‘incurable’ diseases who found renewed hope through Ayurvedic treatments. “Ayurveda has transformed countless lives by offering solutions where conventional medicine often falls short. It’s inspiring to witness the life-changing impact of this ancient science,” she said.
