GKEL spreads ‘Joy of Giving’ to over 300 families, uplifting local communities through livelihood support

Bhubaneswar, November 2, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant initiative aimed at supporting the economically disadvantaged residents of its surrounding areas, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), based in Kamalanga Village under Odapada Block, organized a community event, “Joy of Giving” or Daan Utsav, on Friday. Held at the company’s community hall, the event distributed livelihood aids to over 300 families from Kamalanga and Mangalpur Panchayats.

The event was graced by local dignitaries, with MP Rudra Narayan Pani and MLA Simarani Nayak serving as chief guests. During the distribution ceremony, the officials handed out essential items such as sewing machines, pressure cookers, sarees, and blankets to local families, enhancing their means of livelihood.

Both the MP and MLA applauded GKEL’s social responsibility efforts, encouraging the company to sustain such supportive programs for the welfare of the community.

The event also saw the presence of Kamalanga Sarpanch Jitendra Kumar Behera, Mangalpur Sarpanch Kananbala Rout, and former Sarpanch Bhaktabandu Behera, who extended their appreciation for GKEL’s ongoing support to the community.

Manoj Mishra, Plant Head of GKEL, expressed his gratitude in a vote of thanks, emphasizing the company’s commitment to social upliftment.

As part of this initiative, GKEL’s employees, associate agencies, and Raxa Security Services contributed funds to bolster local livelihoods, aligning with the broader Joy of Giving Week celebrated across the country. Through these efforts, GKEL continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Kamalanga and nearby areas, fostering a spirit of unity and development.
