Bhubaneswar, December 12, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant move towards bolstering India’s regional aviation sector, Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has announced new flight services connecting Jharsuguda to Hyderabad, Raipur, and Lucknow. This expansion, commencing on January 1, 2025, aligns with the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, which aims to make air travel accessible and affordable for all citizens.
With these additions, Star Air’s destination network grows to 24, marking a milestone in its mission to enhance regional connectivity. The new routes promise to make travel between these cities more convenient, fostering economic growth and cultural exchange while supporting the development of underserved regions.
Jharsuguda, often referred to as the “Powerhouse of Odisha,” is an industrial hub celebrated for its rich diversity and cultural heritage. Dubbed “Little India,” the city boasts a unique blend of traditions, languages, and industries. By connecting Jharsuguda with the major cities of Hyderabad, Raipur, and Lucknow, Star Air aims to unlock tourism potential and strengthen economic links.
This initiative is expected to facilitate increased interaction among these cities, encouraging visitors and residents alike to explore their shared histories, traditions, and art forms. Capt. Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air, highlighted the broader impact of this development, stating:
“The launch of new destinations connecting Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jharsuguda, and Raipur represents a significant step forward in Star Air’s mission to strengthen regional connectivity across India. These flights aim to provide passengers with greater convenience while contributing to the growth of trade, tourism, and economic opportunities in these regions. With each new connection, Star Air reaffirms its dedication to linking underserved cities with major hubs and making seamless, affordable travel a reality.”
As part of its strategic vision, Star Air has announced plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years. This ambitious growth underscores the airline’s commitment to “Connecting Real India” by offering quality air travel options to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Currently, Star Air operates a fleet of nine aircraft, including four Embraer E175s and five Embraer E145s, known for their efficiency and passenger comfort.
The new routes not only promise to boost tourism but also pave the way for economic development and regional prosperity. With its focus on last-mile connectivity, Star Air continues to be a key player in India’s aviation landscape, driving sustainable growth and fostering inclusive development across the nation.
This latest development reaffirms Star Air’s role as a dynamic force in India’s aviation sector, bridging gaps and bringing communities closer together.
