East Coast Railway approves 170 Road Over Bridge construction projects

Bhubaneswar, December 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant move aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public safety, the General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has approved the declaration of 170 Road Over Bridge (ROB) construction projects as Special Railway Projects under the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008.

This decision is expected to expedite the execution of these critical infrastructure projects by streamlining the land acquisition process and facilitating quicker approvals. By designating these projects as Special Railway Projects, ECoR seeks to enhance coordination with state authorities, ensuring timely completion and improving operational efficiency.

Of the 170 projects, 110 will be located in Odisha, and 60 will be in Andhra Pradesh. These ROBs will not only strengthen rail infrastructure but also greatly improve the safety and convenience for both road and rail users. The removal of manned level crossings will lower the risk of accidents, improve traffic flow, and enhance train operations.

These projects are also anticipated to ease traffic congestion at level crossing gates, fostering seamless connectivity across the region. By prioritizing public safety and infrastructure development, the 170 ROB projects align with national objectives to modernize and expand transportation systems while improving public welfare.

East Coast Railway is committed to supporting regional development and addressing the growing infrastructure demands of both road and rail users.
