Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, invites the people of Odisha to explore its innovative offerings at the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, to be held at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, from 28th to 30th January 2025. The company’s interactive pavilion, located at Hall A-16, promises an immersive experience highlighting its manufacturing expertise, sustainability initiatives, and transformative contributions to Odisha’s socio-economic landscape.

As the single largest private-sector investor in Odisha, Vedanta Aluminium has infused Rs 1 lakh crore into world-class greenfield assets within the state. This participation reaffirms Odisha’s potential as a global manufacturing hub and aligns with Vedanta’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat,” supported by cutting-edge aluminium production and supply to key industries worldwide.

The Vedanta Aluminium pavilion will offer an engaging experience for visitors through interactive displays showcasing the company’s advanced manufacturing and sustainability practices. It will also feature cultural highlights such as live demonstrations of Odisha’s traditional handicrafts, emphasizing the company’s respect for the state’s rich heritage. Additionally, visitors can enjoy audio-visual presentations that provide insightful glimpses into Vedanta’s operations and initiatives.

Under the leadership of Anil Agarwal, Founder and Chairman of Vedanta Group, the company has been instrumental in driving Odisha’s industrial growth, contributing nearly 3% to the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Its transformative projects, including the 3.5 MTPA alumina refinery in Lanjigarh and the 1.8 MTPA aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda – one of the largest in the world – demonstrate its commitment to adding value to Odisha’s rich bauxite reserves. Through these efforts, Vedanta Aluminium strengthens both the state and the nation’s position as a global manufacturing destination.

The company’s investments have gone beyond industrial contributions, fostering significant socio-economic development across Odisha. Over 10,000 women have been empowered through skill development and microfinance initiatives. Clean drinking water projects and agricultural support have further uplifted rural communities. Its commitment to education is exemplified by the DAV-Vedanta School in Lanjigarh, which has improved literacy rates and opened doors to brighter futures for thousands of children in Kalahandi.

Healthcare is another cornerstone of Vedanta Aluminium’s community initiatives. The company’s mobile health units have reached over 42,000 people in remote areas, while modern facilities such as the Vedanta Hospital in Lanjigarh and diagnostic centres in Jharsuguda and Laikera ensure access to quality medical care. Furthermore, its 531 Nand Ghars across Odisha have emerged as hubs of women and child development, offering integrated services to promote inclusive growth.

Sustainability remains a core focus for Vedanta Aluminium, with an ambitious commitment to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050 or sooner. By integrating renewable energy and adopting innovative green practices, the company sets benchmarks for environmentally responsible growth and strengthens Odisha’s reputation as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing.

Producing over 2.37 million tonnes of aluminium in FY24, Vedanta Aluminium accounts for more than half of India’s total aluminium output. Its value-added products cater to critical industries, positioning aluminium as the ‘Metal of the Future.’ The company’s global leadership in sustainable practices is reflected in its second-place ranking in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for the aluminium sector.
