NTPC Bongaigaon on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to a safe and secure work environment as it observed the 54th National Safety Day with a series of impactful initiatives. The event underscored the importance of integrating safety into daily operations and fostering a culture of vigilance among employees, associates, and contract workers.
The day’s proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the Safety Flag at the plant premises, symbolizing the station’s unwavering dedication to safety excellence. In a significant gesture, Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), led the gathering in taking a safety pledge, reinforcing the necessity of stringent adherence to safety protocols in both professional and personal spheres. Addressing the assembly, he urged all departments to uphold a strict safety framework, ensuring compliance at every level.
Adding to the discourse, Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation), emphasized the collective responsibility of employees in maintaining a hazard-free workplace. He highlighted key aspects of operational safety and stressed the importance of proactive risk management in preventing workplace incidents.
The Safety Department, spearheaded by Pavel Sarker, AGM (Safety) and his team, played a pivotal role in organizing the event. They outlined NTPC’s ongoing initiatives to enhance safety standards and cultivate a safety-first mindset across the workforce. A knowledge-sharing forum was also conducted, enabling contractual workers, associates, and site engagement teams to exchange insights on best safety practices, thereby reinforcing a unified commitment to risk mitigation.
Senior officials, including M S Kandari, Assistant Commandant, CISF-Fire, along with department heads, lent their support to the occasion by stressing the importance of a robust safety culture. They reiterated that safety is a shared responsibility that demands continuous awareness and proactive engagement from all stakeholders.
To further strengthen safety awareness, NTPC Bongaigaon has planned a series of safety competitions in the coming days. These initiatives aim to deepen employees’ understanding of safety protocols and encourage active participation in reinforcing workplace safety measures.
