JPFL Films Private Limited, a subsidiary of Jindal Poly Films Ltd, India’s leading flexible packaging company, has announced a groundbreaking achievement by becoming the first manufacturer in the country to launch Biaxially Oriented Polyamide (BOPA) Nylon films. The company has made a significant investment of Rs 120 crore at its state-of-the-art facility in Nasik to support this initiative.
This milestone aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, reinforcing JPFL Films’ commitment to technological advancement and innovation in manufacturing. The launch of BOPA Nylon Films marks a strategic step towards enhancing quality, optimizing costs, and ensuring superior customer satisfaction while strengthening the company’s foothold in the Indian market.
Dr. Mahesh N Gopalasamudram, Deputy CEO (Growth Division), JPFL Films, expressed his enthusiasm about this pioneering move, stating, “With the launch of BOPA Nylon Films, JPFL Films Private Limited has emerged as the first player to bring this innovation to the Indian market. This unique product offers improved mechanical properties and an enhanced aroma barrier, making it highly suitable for applications across the pharmaceutical, medical, FMCG, and food industries. It is noteworthy that until recently, 100% of these films were being imported.”
One of the defining characteristics of JPFL’s BOPA Nylon Films is its isotropicity — exhibiting the same properties in all directions — achieved through exclusive Japanese double-bubble film technology. This advanced process ensures dimensional stability, puncture resistance, and homogeneity across the length and width of the product. Additionally, the film is well-suited for high-speed printing and serves as an effective barrier against aroma and gases, making it a crucial component in various packaging applications.
Dr. Gopalasamudram further highlighted the company’s global expertise, stating, “BOPA films are also produced by our group company, Jindal Nylon Films, in Italy. This experience will enable us to cater effectively to Indian customers and bring global innovations to the domestic market.”
JPFL Films’ foray into BOPA Nylon Films underscores its dedication to self-reliance, import substitution, and innovation-driven growth. This investment not only strengthens India’s packaging industry but also paves the way for further advancements in high-performance packaging solutions.
