Rungta Eco Extrusions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rungta Greentech Limited, has inaugurated a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Howrah, West Bengal, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability in the plastics industry. The plant, with an annual production capacity of 17,280 metric tons (MT), is set to be fully operational by the end of March 2025 and will play a pivotal role in advancing the production of food-grade recycled PET (rPET) granules.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology from Austria-based NGR GmbH, a global leader in recycling innovations, the facility is designed to ensure the highest quality and safety standards in rPET production. The advanced process enhances the purity and performance of recycled PET, making it a sustainable alternative for packaging and consumer goods industries.
Strategically located in Howrah, a key industrial hub, the plant is well-positioned to optimize supply chain efficiencies and cater to both domestic and international markets. The rPET granules produced at the facility will be certified by top global food safety authorities, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), reinforcing their suitability for food-grade applications.
In a move towards broader sustainability efforts, Rungta Eco Extrusions is also expanding its portfolio to include recycled polyethylene (rPE) and recycled polypropylene (rPP) granules. These materials will serve diverse industrial applications such as injection moulding, blow moulding, and extrusion, providing eco-friendly alternatives to conventional plastics.
“We are proud to lead the transition towards a circular economy by offering sustainable solutions that address the global plastic waste challenge,” said Mr. Deepak Rungta, Managing Director of Rungta Eco Extrusions. “Our new facility in Howrah represents our unwavering commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and the future of recycling.”
The inauguration event saw the participation of key industry leaders, local dignitaries, and environmental advocates, all aligning with Rungta Eco Extrusions’ vision for a greener future. With this strategic investment, the company is not only boosting local employment and industrial growth but also strengthening its role as a frontrunner in the sustainable plastics sector.
