Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), the Indian subsidiary of Japan-based Daikin Industries Ltd. and a market leader in air-conditioning, on Wednesday launched a new range of air-conditioning products in Odisha, underscoring its aggressive expansion strategy in the eastern region. The launch reaffirms Daikin’s commitment to capturing a dominant share of the state’s rapidly growing room AC market.
Odisha, identified as a high-potential market, will witness continued investments from Daikin to strengthen its position in the state. The company’s newly launched products integrate advanced technology from Daikin Global, promising lower ownership costs, superior energy efficiency, and unmatched durability.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuldeepak Virmani, Senior Vice President & Executive Director, Daikin India, said, “With India’s strong economic momentum, Daikin is set to accelerate its growth across Odisha, adopting a more aggressive strategy to consolidate its market share. The launch of these new products reflects our vision to expand industry leadership, backed by a strong sales, service, and dealer network. Our unwavering commitment is to provide an exceptional consumer experience, with robust support from our dealer partners and employees.”
The eastern market has recorded a 32 percent growth in the past year, with Daikin India projecting it to reach Rs 1,600 crore by 2026. With rising infrastructure and housing developments fueling demand for smart and energy-efficient air-conditioning solutions, Daikin is significantly investing in marketing and promotional activities in Odisha. The company aims to capture 18 percent market share by the end of FY 2025-26, reinforcing its leadership in the sector.
Further strengthening its expansion plans, Daikin India’s recently operationalized facility at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, spanning 75.5 acres, showcases its commitment to innovation and excellence. This strategic facility caters to the increasing domestic and international demand for cutting-edge, India-manufactured air-conditioning products. Notably, Daikin is a key investor in the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, an initiative by the Government of India to boost local AC production and enhance the sector’s self-reliance.
Commenting on the new plant’s commercial launch, Kuldeepak Virmani added, “The Sri City facility marks a significant milestone in Daikin’s journey, reinforcing our focus on innovation, sustainability, and enhanced production capacity. This state-of-the-art manufacturing unit not only strengthens our supply chain but also enables a more energy-conscious approach to HVAC solutions. With this expansion, Daikin advances its mission to lead the industry with cutting-edge, eco-friendly air-conditioning products while fostering strategic partnerships and contributing to India’s evolving industrial landscape.”
Daikin India’s commitment to the PLI scheme is set to drive substantial localization in the residential air-conditioning (RAC) industry, with an anticipated 75 percent indigenization over the next three to four years through continuous backward integration efforts. This initiative will not only fortify India’s AC manufacturing ecosystem but also pave the way for sustainable and efficient cooling solutions, ensuring long-term benefits for consumers and industry stakeholders alike.
