In a significant development for the industrial landscape of Odisha, Sunil Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Vedanta Ltd. Jharsuguda, has been elected as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Odisha State Council for the year 2025-26. The announcement was made during the CII Odisha State Annual Day 2025 event held in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Sunil Gupta, a seasoned industrial leader with over 29 years of experience, has been at the helm of Vedanta Aluminium, steering the company’s operations across its plants in Jharsuguda, Lanigarh, and its mining businesses. Under his leadership, Vedanta Aluminium has become India’s largest aluminium producer. His vision includes expanding production capacity, securing critical resources like bauxite and coal, and driving sustainability through cutting-edge technologies, with the ambitious goals of becoming net-zero carbon by 2050 and net water positive by 2030. Additionally, G Suresha, Executive Director of Odisha Asset at AM/NS India, has been named Vice Chairman of the CII Odisha State Council.
G Suresha has been instrumental in overseeing the Odisha Asset at AM/NS India, managing a complex array of industrial operations, including a beneficiation plant, slurry pipeline, pellet plants, and a captive power plant. His leadership has played a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and operational excellence at AM/NS India, ensuring the company’s alignment with its Vision 2030.
