The 12-day-long celebrations at Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) in Angul, Odisha, came to a grand conclusion on Thursday with the heartfelt birthday celebration of Chairperson Emeritus, Savitri Jindal. Titled ‘Celebrating The Legacy’, the initiative, which began on March 9th, was a tribute to JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal’s leadership and his family’s ongoing contributions to society. The event showcased a series of charitable activities aimed at uplifting the community, honouring the legacy of Jindal Steel & Power, and reinforcing the company’s deep-rooted commitment to social welfare.

The 12-day program was meticulously curated, with each day dedicated to a unique theme, embodying various aspects of community welfare and holistic development. From Fitness Day, Culture Day, and Day of Inspiration to Dakshata Day, Enlightenment Day, and Day of Colours, every event reflected JSP’s focus on enriching lives and creating an empowered society. Additional observances, including Unity Day, Sports Day, Safety Day, Day of Spirituality, and finally, Empowerment Day, marked the finale, leaving an indelible impact on both the employees and the surrounding communities.

Throughout the course of the celebration, JSP’s local management at Angul worked in collaboration with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, Jindal Foundation, and the Jindal Mahila Samiti, led by Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal. The tireless efforts of these teams positively impacted over 50,000 lives in the plant’s periphery villages, as well as within the plant campus itself, including the vibrant community of Jindal Nagar.

The final day of the event, celebrated as Empowerment Day, was particularly special as it honoured the birthday of Savitri Jindal, lovingly referred to as ‘Mataji’. A special puja was held at the Devbhoomi Temple in Jindal Nagar, where senior officials and leadership gathered to offer prayers, wishing Mataji a long and healthy life.

Following the puja, the celebrations expanded into a variety of charitable initiatives aimed at benefiting local communities. These included outreach programs at Jana Jeevika Kendra, NGOs, Angul Jail, and both the periphery villages and the plant premises, including Jindal Nagar. One of the key highlights of this final day was a blood donation camp organized by JSP’s Bhubaneswar Office, where employees, local citizens, and Rotary Club members contributed generously, furthering the spirit of giving that has defined the entire 12-day celebration.

In his remarks, JSP’s Angul Location Head, Pankaj Malhan, expressed deep gratitude to the participants and contributors who made the initiative a monumental success. Along with Executive Director-Projects Damodar Mittal, CHRO Dilip Sinha, and Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati, he offered heartfelt birthday wishes to Mataji and thanked everyone who played an integral role in bringing ‘Celebrating The Legacy’ to fruition.

The entire program was a poignant reminder of the values instilled by the Jindal family — a commitment to community, empowerment, and sustainable development.
