In a major move to position Odisha as a leading industrial hub, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has concluded the first day of his two-day visit to New Delhi, which has already yielded promising results in the form of substantial investments and pivotal collaborations.
The visit, which began on Monday, aims to bolster Odisha’s industrial ecosystem and attract investments across key sectors.
The first day of engagements commenced with a visit to HCL Technologies’ sprawling IT campus in Noida, where the Chief Minister interacted with Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies. The meeting highlighted Odisha’s commitment to becoming a major player in the technology and IT sectors. Majhi explored the company’s cutting-edge initiatives, including its Mega IT Campus, AI Lab, and IoT Lab, before visiting the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, where the fusion of technology and culture was on full display.
The Chief Minister informed that HCL Technologies will set up a state-of-the-art campus in Bhubaneswar. In addition to this, HCL plans to establish a university in the state, further boosting Odisha’s ambition to become a major center for education and technology.
“This collaboration will contribute significantly to the state’s growing reputation as a technology and innovation hub,” said CM Majhi. “With HCL’s presence, Odisha is not just strengthening its IT ecosystem but also making strides in the education sector, providing ample opportunities for our youth and creating a more diversified economy.”
The day also saw a series of strategic meetings at the Taj Palace Hotel, where the Chief Minister met with top industry leaders from companies such as Kiri Industries, Himadri Specialty Chemicals, Inox GFL Group, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd., and others.
These discussions resulted in Odisha securing investment intents from 14 companies, amounting to Rs 3,000 crore and promising to generate approximately 21,390 new jobs.
In addition, 11 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were formalized, valued at Rs 27,595 crore, with the potential to create 27,000 employment opportunities. Combined, these agreements could inject a total of Rs 30,595 crore into the state’s economy, with the capacity to generate nearly 50,000 jobs.
Looking ahead, Day 2 of the Chief Minister’s visit is set to focus on landmark agreements, including the signing of an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for its Dual-Feed Naphtha Cracker Project, a move that will significantly enhance Odisha’s petrochemical capabilities. Further MoUs are expected with the Indian Strategic Petrochemical Reserves Ltd (ISPRL) and Petronet LNG, further reinforcing the state’s growing prominence in the industrial sector.
With additional one-on-one meetings scheduled, the Chief Minister is set to deepen collaborations across various sectors, driving Odisha’s economic growth and reinforcing its commitment to creating a thriving, innovation-driven industrial landscape.
