The Odisha government on Friday announced an 11 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pension holders. While the hike will be effective retrospectively from July 1, 2021, the employees will get the hiked salary from this month.
Four lakh regular employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners will be benefited with this announcement.
With this, the DA of the Odisha Government stands at 28 percent now.
The employees will get the additional DA amount in their October salary. They will also receive three months arrear in cash, a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office said.
In another development, the State Government also revised the Group Insurance Scheme (GIS) with the provision of more financial assistance for the employees, who die during the service period.
As per the revised scheme, employees whose Grade Pay is up to Rs.4800 will pay Rs 20,000 premium and will be entitled to get Rs.4 lakh as Group Insurance in the event of their death.
Similarly the employees working in the Grade Pay of Rs.5400 and above will have to pay a premium of Rs 30,000 and will get the Insurance amount of Rs.6 lakh in the event of their death.
