Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has crossed 148 million tonnes (MT) in production of coal surpassing last year’s figure within 11 months of the financial year 2022. With 35 days to go, the Company is expected to end the year with a stupendous growth of 12 per cent.
The company reached 148.22 MT production mark on February 24, 2022, crossing the milestone of 148 MT created in the previous year.
MCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director OP Singh congratulated all officers, staff, and employees of contracted companies and other stakeholders for the achievement.
“It is a matter of pride and great satisfaction that we, as a Team, achieve new milestones of growth as we ensure energy security to the nation,” the CMD said in his congratulatory message to all the employees on exceeding coal production over last fiscal, registering a growth of over 15 per cent over same period FY’21.
In reference to the record performance of the financial year 2021-22, Singh said, “Since the demand for coal is expected to grow further during the coming summer, we have to augment our efforts to maximize coal production and achieve the big milestones.”
MCL has already exceeded last financial year’s figures of coal dispatch and overburden (OB) removal.
To date, the company has dispatched over 158 MT dry fuel to the consumers, registering 18 per cent growth over financial year 2020-21 while it has also recorded growth of 22 per cent in OB removal, which stands at 184 MCuM (million cubic meters).
