In its continuous endeavor towards impacting livelihoods of the community, Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries limited of Aditya Birla Group, recently launched skill development training on driving at Nuapada in association with Sri Ganesh Driving Training School, Nabarangpur. The program aims to provide driving skills and certificates to interested youths of the periphery and show them the way for self-employment.
Thirty village youths have enrolled themselves in the training program. During this one-month training programme, participants will be oriented on safe driving techniques through theoretical and practical orientation. The training components cover basic car control skills, driving techniques, besides Traffic rules and regulations. After successful completion of the training, the participants will be issued with driving licenses.
Utkal Alumina Unit Head Mazhar Beig and RIC-Rayagada General Manager Bikash Chandra Bain graced the inaugural session as distinguished guests and formally launched the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Beig encouraged the participants to take up driving as their source of livelihoods as it is a sector of high demand. He also emphasized on safety norms and principle of driving; and advised the participants to follow it religiously. “Utkal Alumina is always committed towards skill upgradation of youths of this region and would further launch similar kinds of programs in coming days,” he added.
Bain emphasized on the role of Regional Industry Centre (RIC) in supporting the aspirant drivers who would like to take up this as the source of self-employment. He assured to extend all possible support to the candidates who would like to purchase vehicles for commercial purposes. He lauded the noble effort of Utkal Alumina and extended his heartfelt thanks to its CSR team for conducting such a program for the benefit of rural youths.

Overall, UAIL is engaged in 84 villages serving more than 30,000 populations in Odisha.
