Aditya Aluminium launches Project Sinchai

Aditya Birla Group company Aditya Aluminium at Lapanga is acting as catalyst for community, bridging the gap between community and Government in different key parameter indicators from health and education to livelihood under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

As part of its CSR initiative, Aditya Aluminium launched Project Sinchai on Tuesday in partnership with the Horticulture Department and farmers in a Public Private Partnership model under Pradhan Mantri Krishak Sinchai Yojana.

Under the project, a feasibility study was done and 55 farmers from 5 gram panchayats have been mobilised to adopt the Sprinkler Irrigation System. Each sprinkler has 9 nozzles and can be used as per water pressure. More than 70 acres of land will be irrigated through sprinkler system.

The envisaged benefits include increase in crop intensification and productivity, reduction in water wastage, increase in per capita income, and hasslefree installation. Farmers have contributed 10-15 per cent and equal amount has been the Company’s contribution in the project, besides financial contribution of about Rs. 4 lakh in a project cost of Rs 16.57 lakh. Government’s contribution is 70-80 cent based on ST/ SC/OBC category farmers under the scheme.

Aditya CSR is playing a cr​ucial role in mobilising the farmers, sensitization on scheme, document collection, liasioning with Government and vendor, ensuring farmer’s contribution.

The launch event, organised at Golamal village in Katarbagga Gram Panchayat on Tuesday, was attended by more than 50 farmers. The event was graced by Rengali BDO KC Dalpat as the chief guest. Other eminent guests included Rengali Block Agriculture Officer Byomokesh Mishra, Horticulture Officer Mousami along with Rajendra Bhoi. Stephen Arokiaraj, Head ER; Sweta Upadhayay Head-CSR, and Manoranjan Behera, Manager-CSR.

The guests spoke on various government schemes available and explained how farmers can avail the benefits of these schemes besides encouraging farmers to reach out to government officials as each department has only 1-2 manpower for 16 gram panchayats.

The BDO said that farmers need to diversify crops for profit.

It was an interactive session where farmers also voiced their concern on marketing produce and lack of cold storage where BAO and BDO assured that schemes are available and will be extended to Golamal. Farmers expressed their happiness about the Sinchai Project and look forward to continued support from Government and Aditya Aluminium Lapanga. Aditya will continue to scale the reach of the project after witnessing the positive impact of the intervention.
