Bhubaneswar, September 25, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The 20th biannual meeting of the Bhubaneswar Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC-U) was held at the Corporate Headquarters of the National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) on Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Official Language directives issued by the Government of India, focusing on the usage and progress of Hindi in the day-to-day operations of Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) based in Bhubaneswar. Various initiatives to promote the official language were discussed, including Hindi workshops, competitions, the formation of sub-committees, and the increase of official work conducted in Hindi, as well as the publication of a TOLIC magazine.
Sridhar Patra, CMD of NALCO and Chairman of TOLIC (U), Bhubaneswar, chaired the meeting, which was attended by Jagdish Arora, Director (P&T) and Director (HR – Additional Charge), and Asutosh Rath, Executive Director (HR & Administration).
Senior officials and representatives from various CPSUs in Bhubaneswar, including Powergrid Corporation of India, HPCL, SAIL, MCL, BHEL, FCI, HUDCO, BEML Ltd., National Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd, GAIL, IOCL, BPCL, RINL, NTPC, RITES, REC, WAPCOS, CMPDIL, and others, participated in the meeting, along with Hindi Officers and Translators.
In his address, Sridhar Patra commended the efforts of various CPSUs in promoting the use of Hindi in official work. He suggested several measures to enhance the use of Hindi and emphasized the importance of collective efforts to further integrate Hindi into daily operations.
The meeting was conducted by Himanshu Rai, Manager (Official Language) at NALCO and Committee Member-Secretary of TOLIC.
