48th Raising Day celebration at NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters

 NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi, celebrated the 48th NTPC Raising Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety, here on Monday.

Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) Partha Mazumder who graced the function as the chief guest, unfurled the NTPC flag in the presence of HoDs, employees and President of Swayamsiddha Ladies Club and other members.

On the occasion, the Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) congratulated the employees for completing 47 years of NTPC journey in power generation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mazumder said “we feel proud to be a part of India’s largest energy conglomerate, which has played a critical role in catering to the energy needs of a growth-oriented and an energy hungry country.”

 The installed capacity of NTPC group has risen to 70,254 MW with thermal power contributing 91% and renewable energycontributing 9%. NTPC Group generated 204 billion Units in H1 of this fiscal as compared to 177 billion Units in H1 FY22, an increase of 15%. NTPC Coal stations achieved a Plant Load Factor of 77.27% as against the National Average of 64.46% during H1 FY23, informed Mazumder.

Treading the growth path of NTPC, its coal mining business has also shown exemplary progress. The coal production figure of 10.58 million tonnes, for this fiscal, has witnessed a jump of 46% over the figure of 7.24 million tonnes achieved in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.  Mazumder thanked the management for their support and congratulated the entire coal mining team for this feat.

The Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) emphasized upon putting all-round efforts in building a strong foundation for the future of NTPC coal mining. He focused upon improvement in cross-functional processes; adoption of latest technologies; and more thrust on safe mining practices and environment friendly measures. “These building blocks will empower us with more flexibility, competence and confidence to pursue new avenues such as commercial coal mining, venturing into other minerals, consultancy projects etc.,” he said.

He thanked the coal mining team for ensuring continuous and premium quality coal supply to the power plants of NTPC.

Winners of various competitions like Medha Pratiyogita, Vigilance Week and Hindi Pakhwada were felicitated on this special occasion today.
